Teaching

New Product Innovation and Supply Chain Management(IMB531E)

The primary objective of this course is to teach the students strategic issues in new product innovation and supply chain management, which are very important subjects in management. During the course, we will primarily focus on how to enhance firm’s capability that enhances its innovation ability and creativity to achieve superior sustaining competitive advantage vis-a-vis its global competitors.

Operations Strategy and Supply Chain Management(MGT 530E)

The primary objective of this course is to teach the students important theories and empirical studies in operations strategy and supply chain management (OS&SCM). From a comprehensive perspective, OS&SCM encompasses all organizational activities to create value for the market. During the course, we will primarily focus on how to enhance operations capability that enables the firm to achieve sustaining competitive advantage vis-a-vis its global competitors.

Quantitative Analysis for Management(MGT 504E)

The primary objective of this course is to enable the students to develop analytical capacity to deal with complex managerial decision making problems. The students will experience the importance of ‘uncertainty’ and ‘value of information’ in decision making, and learn analytical/systematic ways to manage it in the real-world context. As such, the course will pay an in-depth attention to decision tree analysis, simulation, regression analysis, risk versus return, hedging, and optimization (maximization or minimization) techniques useful for solving managerial problems found in a wide range of management studies such as manufacturing, marketing, finance, and technology and innovation management.

Theory of Operations Strategy (for MS/Phd)(BA771)

In this course, we learn important theories and cases in operation strategy. Operations strategy is concerned with the firm’s decision making for resources, processes, and capabilities to optimize value creation. Covering diverse research disciplines, this course has an interdisciplinary perspective to understand the effective principles in operations strategy. Students are expected to learn theories and cases in operations strategy thoroughly, and to write a research paper that will be publishable in the related fields.
